Case Studies

The E-learning Benchmarking Project encourages vocational education and training (VET) organisations to benchmark their e-learning activity, and provides practical tools and advice to support organisations in this aim. The project also tries to find real examples of how measuring data on e-learning uptake and outcomes can assist VET organisations to meet their business goals.

While e-learning benchmarking is still new to many organisations, some have taken the first step to measure and compare their uptake and use of e-learning, and their experience provides a valuable learning opportunity for other organisations taking this path.

The following case studies highlight the value of benchmarking and capturing information to support organisational decision-making, and validate or challenge myths, assumptions and anecdotes about the uptake and impact of e-learning.

Each of the case studies examines how each training organisation has benchmarked its e-learning activity by asking four simple questions:

  • What was the aim of the benchmarking activity?
  • What were the highlights?
  • What were the benefits to the organisation, its clients and teaching staff?
  • What would be done differently the next time e-learning is benchmarked?

The case studies combine written material and short multimedia presentations.
