Hunter Institute of TAFE (2005)
“Benchmarking data provides a point of reference to improve and be competitive, as well as innovative in educational delivery.” In 2005 Hunter Institute of TAFE in NSW commenced a project aimed at benchmarking its investment in e-learning. The project is providing measures in relation to the Institute’s Strategic Plan 2004-2006 and its goal of achieving ‘excellence in learning and the learning environment’, in line with the Australian Business Excellence Framework. Nine key indicators have been selected covering e-learning inputs, process, outputs and outcomes. They measure funding levels, staff training, e-learning resources, uptake and student satisfaction. In this case study, Louise King talks about Hunter Institute’s experience in implementing a whole of organisation benchmarking process. Case Study Report What was the aim of the benchmarking activity? What were the highlights? What were the benefits to the organisation? What would be done differently next time?
