E-learning for Target Learner Groups
“The survey data can provide real evidence of performance that can be used to make informed decisions about e-learning programs and services for young learners.” The Australian Flexible Learning Framework’s (the Framework) 2005 E-learning for Target Learner Groups project focused on young people in the 15-19 age group (including VET in Schools, disengaged youth and school-based apprenticeships) and aimed to improve employment-related training opportunities and skills. As part of the project, students were asked to complete a survey to collect data about their satisfaction with and enjoyment of e-learning, the knowledge and skills they gained, and their confidence in using information and communications technologies. The project trialled the online benchmarking survey developed by the Framework’s 2005 E-learning Benchmarking project. In this case study, project manager Bruce Enting talks about the use of the benchmarking survey and the lessons to be learned in engaging teaching staff and students in benchmarking activity. Case Study Report What was the aim of the benchmarking activity? What were the highlights? What were the benefits to the organisation? What would be done differently next time?
